Dentures Reservoir

Losing teeth changes more than a smile. It changes how you eat, how you speak, and for many people, how comfortable they feel around others. Dentures remain one of the most practical ways to replace missing teeth, and when they are carefully made and properly fitted, most people stop thinking about them within a few weeks. Dentist in Reservoir, we take the time to get the fit right, then keep adjusting until it stays right.

Types of Dentures We Provide

No single type of denture suits everyone. What works for you comes down to how many teeth are missing, the state of your gums and jawbone, and how much support you need.

There are three main options. Full dentures replace every tooth in the upper or lower jaw and are made from acrylic. Partial dentures fill the gaps around the teeth you still have, in either acrylic or a slim cobalt-chrome framework. Implant-supported dentures clip onto implants to stop a lower denture from moving. Each is explained below.

Full (Complete) Dentures

When every tooth in an arch is gone, a full denture gives you back your bite and the natural shape of your face. They sit straight on the gum and hold in place by suction, so getting the mould exactly right makes all the difference to how they feel.

Partial Dentures

If you still have healthy natural teeth, a partial denture fills the gaps without disturbing them. We make these in two materials. Acrylic partials are lower-cost and easy to add to later. Cobalt-chrome partials use a slim metal framework, so they are thinner, stronger and usually more comfortable to wear, though they cost more to make. We will talk you through both honestly, including which one we would choose ourselves in your situation.

Implant-Supported Dentures

A lower full denture is the hardest one to keep stable, because there is less ridge to grip. Placing implants and clipping the denture onto them removes most of that movement. This is where being treated inside a general dental practice makes a practical difference. For the surgical part of implant treatment, we refer you to Dr Gabriel Rodriguez, a specialist periodontist and our former principal, who also performs bone grafting and sinus lifts when needed. You then come back to us for the restorative work, so one team plans the case from start to finish rather than leaving you to manage two unconnected providers.

What to Expect - Your Denture Journey

Most people are surprised that dentures are not made in a single visit. Getting them right takes a few short appointments:

Step 1

Consultation and assessment. We examine your gums, remaining teeth and bite, and discuss the options honestly, including cost.

Step 2

Impressions. A detailed mould of your mouth, from which everything else is built.

Step 3

Try-in. You see and feel the shape, tooth colour and bite before anything is finalised. Changes are easy at this stage.

Step 4

Fitting. Your finished dentures are placed and adjusted.

Step 5

Review and adjustment. Almost everyone needs small adjustments as the gums settle. This is normal, and it is included in your care.

Denture Repairs, Relines and Adjustments

Gums and jawbone change shape over the years, which is why a denture that fitted perfectly can start to loosen. That is not a fault in the denture; it is the mouth changing underneath it.

Relines and rebases refit the denture to your current gum shape rather than replacing the whole thing.

Repairs cover cracked plates, broken teeth and damaged clasps.

Adjustments fix pressure points, tipping or rocking.

Never repair a denture yourself. Superglue and household adhesives are not safe in the mouth, and a home repair usually distorts the fit so badly that a professional repair is no longer possible. Bring it in instead.

Ring us as soon as it happens. We will tell you exactly what the repair involves and how long it will take once we have seen it. Because this is a dental practice, we can also check the teeth and gums the denture sits against while you are here. If a clasp has broken because the tooth holding it has failed, repairing the denture on its own will not fix the real problem.

Cost, Health Funds and Payment Options

Denture costs depend on whether you need full or partial dentures, the materials used, implant support and any preparatory gum treatment. After your consultation, we provide a written treatment plan with itemised costs before treatment begins.

Royal Parade Dental is a preferred provider for Medibank, Bupa and HCF, with eligible claims processed through HICAPS. We accept major cards and digital payments without a surcharge, while Afterpay and CommBank StepPay may help you spread the cost. You can also ask about our payment plans.

FAQs: Caring for Your New Smile

It depends on whether you need a full or partial denture, the material, and whether any extractions or implants are involved. We provide an itemised written quote after your consultation, before any treatment starts, so you can make an informed decision.

Several short appointments across a few weeks: consultation, impressions, a try-in, then fitting, followed by review appointments to fine-tune the fit. The exact schedule depends on the type of denture and on whether any extractions or gum treatment are needed first.

Most major funds include dentures under extras cover, though limits and waiting periods vary. Royal Parade Dental is a preferred provider for Medibank, Bupa and HCF, and we claim through HICAPS at the front desk so you only pay the gap. Bring your card, and we will check your entitlements before you commit.

Yes. We repair cracks, broken teeth and damaged clasps, and reline dentures that have loosened as your gums have changed shape. Please do not attempt a home repair, because household glues are unsafe and usually ruin the fit. Ring us and bring it in, and we will tell you exactly what the repair involves and how long it will take once we have seen it.

Both work well in the right mouth. Dentures cost less upfront and suit most people. Dental implants cost more but are fixed in place and help preserve jawbone. A middle option is an implant-supported denture, which clips onto implants for stability. We will explain which suits your situation, including the trade-offs.

Modern dentures are made to match your natural tooth shape, shade and facial proportions, and you approve the look at the try-in stage before anything is finalised. Comfort improves over the first few weeks as you adapt, and we adjust as often as needed.
