General Dentistry Reservoir
A Fun, Friendly, and Gentle Approach for Your Little Ones.
At Royal Parade Dental Clinic, we love kids! We find they respond positively to our gentle approach, and we tailor our care specifically to your child’s age and dental needs. We take educating children about the importance of good oral health very seriously, but we always make sure they find it fun.
When Should Your Child Visit the Dentist?
We encourage children to start caring for their teeth early on to enjoy better dental health in the future. To celebrate their bravery, every child will walk away from their first dental visit with a special “First Visit Certificate.”
Keeping Kids Anxiety-Free at Every Visit
Children are not born with a fear of the dentist, but they can fear the unknown. That’s why we work hard to put your child at ease, using simple, non-frightening language when speaking about procedures.

Pre-Visit Parental Prep
One of the most reliable predictors for dental anxiety is parental anxiety. We recommend maintaining a positive attitude; if you are at ease, your child will relax too. Briefly describe what to expect, but avoid using "scary" words like: Pain, Needles, Drill, or Hurt.

Entertainment & Distraction
To keep your child happy and occupied, we have movies and ABC Kids available to keep them entertained during their dental sessions.

Expert Guidance
If you are unsure how to speak to your child about the dentist, our friendly office staff will be happy to help you prepare them for a positive experience.
What We Offer
From preventative fissure sealants to government-funded care, we provide a full suite of pediatric services to keep your child’s smile healthy.
Fissure Sealants
These plastic resins bond to deep grooves (pits and fissures) on the biting surfaces of molars and premolars. By smoothing these grooves, we make brushing easier and more effective against decay.
Comprehensive Examinations & X-rays
Regular check-ups to monitor growth and digital X-rays to ensure the underlying teeth are developing correctly.
Professional Cleaning & Fissure Sealing
Removing plaque and applying protective barriers to permanent teeth (and baby teeth on a case-by-case basis) to prevent cavities.
Restorative Fillings & Root Canals
Gentle treatments to repair decay and save teeth, ensuring your child remains pain-free and healthy.
Extractions & Partial Dentures
Necessary procedures for damaged teeth to ensure the surrounding teeth and jaw develop as they should.
Preventative Measure Maintenance
Sealants usually last 3–5 years. We monitor them at every visit; if they come off, we schedule an appointment for re-sealing to ensure constant protection.
How We Stand Out in Royal Parade Dental Clinic and Melbourne
We know how important early experiences are in forming your child’s lifelong attitude towards dental health.

Tailored Pediatric Care
We don't believe in "one size fits all." We tailor every service to the specific age and unique emotional needs of your child to ensure a positive experience.

Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS)
We are pleased to treat families eligible for the CDBS. We offer bulk-billing for covered treatments, providing up to $1000 in basic dental services over a two-year period.

Educational Focus
We don't just treat teeth; we teach. We empower children to take pride in their oral health, setting them up for a lifetime of beautiful, naturally enhanced smiles.
FAQs on Children’s Dental
Everything parents need to know about eligibility for free dental care and maintaining your child’s sealants at Royal Parade Dental.
Is my child eligible for the Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS)?
Eligible children aged 2–17 can access services including exams, cleans, fillings, and root canals. If you receive relevant Australian government payments, you are likely entitled. You can check via MyGov, the Department of Human Services, or ask our staff for help.
What is covered (and not covered) under the CDBS?
It covers basics like X-rays, cleaning, and fissure sealing. However, it does not include orthodontic or cosmetic treatment, mouthguards, or services provided in a hospital operating theatre.
How does billing work for CDBS?
Bulk-billing is available for all covered treatments. If the CDBS balance is unavailable on the day, you simply pay the invoice in full and claim your rebate later through Medicare.
Why are sealants recommended for the back teeth?
Sealants are applied to molars and premolars because they have tiny grooves (fissures) that harbor plaque. Sealing them makes the surface smooth and much harder for cavities to form.
How long do dental sealants last?
They typically last 3 to 5 years, though some last into adulthood. They only protect the tooth when fully intact, so if one comes off, it’s important to see us for a re-seal.
